Now in its 64th year, the Trinity Plant Sale is a special community event. Started when parishioners shared cuttings and favorite plants from their home gardens, the Plant Sale now brings over 3,000 plants into our fellowship hall each Saturday before Mother’s Day. “Variety” and “low-cost” are the Plant Sale by-words: perennials you can’t find in stores, and prices way below wholesale make it a special sale.
This year we are adding to the variety of our usual offerings of perennials by introducing several new features:
This year we are adding to the variety of our usual offerings of perennials by introducing several new features:
Pre-planted Items! In past years, wet and/or cold Spring weather often limited the growth and selections of plants. This year we are starting a large variety of flowers and herbs in a local greenhouse so you will be able to see many well-established plants, ready to put in your garden. For pictures and items, click here.
Hanging Baskets and Planters! For those who love flowers for their porches, patios, and window boxes, we are providing ready-made attractive baskets and planters. For folks with not enough time-- or no green thumb—we’ll have geraniums, mixed flowers and vines in easy-care hanging baskets and handsome planters made of weather resistant tamarack (larch). Before you go to the Big Box stores or the Garden Centers—and pay those prices--be sure to check what we’re offering at the Trinity Plant Sale.
Birdhouses! What garden or yard is complete without a bird house? We are selling Birdhouse Kits, complete and easy to assemble, an ideal fun project for families; “Economy Model” birdhouses of simple construction, ready to put up for this Spring’s nestings; and Houses and Bird Feeders, a bit fancier, made by our own parish woodworkers. These items, as well as assorted gardening items will be available in our Garden Shop, on the premises.
Planter Boxes! In addition to the pre-planted planters, we have several sizes of planters available for do-it-yourselfers. These rustic-style boxes can be planted with or without liners. Attractive as window boxes or stand-alones for deck and patio.
Special Fertilizers! In addition to the popular “Black Gold”—composted horse manure—of past sales, we are adding “Inca Gold,” a sought-after manure from a local alpaca farm. Both are invaluable supplements for your flower and vegetable gardens, planters and lawns.
Extended Sale Hours! The Sale will continue to 2:00 to enable more folks to shop or pick up their pre-orders. Rain or shine, of course.
The Day of the Sale: The Sale starts at 9:00, with many lining up well before then. We provide a map (list) of the sale tables as well as carrying boxes for your purchases, and transport help to your car. The planters and baskets and manure bags will be available outside. Cash or check are acceptable. The sale will continue until 2:00.
Directions and Parking: Trinity Episcopal Church is on Genesee Street in Fayetteville, across from Hullar’s. The Plant Sale is in our fellowship hall, at 106 Chapel Street. Street parking is permitted, and the dentists’ large lot across the street is available on Saturday.
